Roman Reigns Wanted To Lose To The Undertaker At WrestleMania 33

WWE superstars Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, Ric Flair, Shawn Michaels, Edge, Triple H and others spoke to ESPN recently where they shared some previously unknown stories from the legacy of The Undertaker’s WrestleMania.

Roman Reigns shared his reaction during the interview, when WWE Chairman Vince McMahon told him he would face The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33.

Roman Reigns said a week before Vince McMahon gave him the news he had met ‘The Phenom,’ but The Undertaker did not tell him anything about their match-up.

In a ‘No Holds Barred Match’ at WrestleMania 33, Roman Reigns said he was in “awe” when he heard that he would face The Undertaker. Roman Reigns admitted, however, that he was anxious when the officials told him he was going to eventually win in the end.

Roman Reigns claimed he wanted to lose to The Undertaker since if he had lost they would have delivered an even better story. “I thought it would have been a better story if I ended up standing on my back. Obviously, that was not the way it went, “Roman Reigns said.

“When Vince explained it to me, I was just in awe. It’s something that everybody who gets into the business wants, to get into the ring with The Undertaker. And I remember the first thing I thought was that I wanted to put him over. I wanted to lose,” Roman Reigns admitted.

Roman Reigns reveals cried backstage after match

Reigns and The Undertaker began their storyline at the 2017 Royal Rumble PPV which ended with Roman Reigns defeating The Undertaker in WrestleMania 33.

He said while talking about the match that he sat on a chair and cried backstage as The Phenom said goodbye to the WWE Universe. Roman Reigns said that he was in tears for not being satisfied with the match.

The Undertaker revealed earlier that he had been “disgusted” with his performance at WrestleMania 33. He explained that day by day he was getting older and slower and was unable to perform at WrestleMania 33 in its fullest.

For Roman Reigns he said he was disappointed as the fight meant so much for him. The Undertaker approached backstage Roman Reigns a year later where he apologised to the superstar.

“I felt so bad about last year. just want you to know, that bothers me. I didn’t have it, you know that,” The Undertaker told Roman Reigns.
