Uruguay Won 4-2 on penalties

Ghana was the 2010 tournament’s feel-good tale as historically, African sides are not going too far into the competition. In this quarter-final their opponent has been Uruguay.

Sulley Muntari scored a screamer from 40 yards just before half-time in a back-and-forth game. Diego Forlan equalised the 55th minute with a free kick. The game would end 1-1 meaning there would have been extra time played.

In extra-time the drama was saved for late. Ghana were knocking a free kick into the box on the offensive. The ball then pinged around before a certain goal was blocked with a handball by Luis Suarez.

Asamoah Gyan has smashed his penalty into the crossbar with the last kick of the game. The Uruguayans were jubilant, but the Ghanaians were distracted, despite the fact that they still had a chance in the shootout.

The first Forlan scored remarkably so did Gyan. All scored by Victorino, Appiah, and Scotti. John Mensah then lost out, even as Pereira and Adiyiah meant Sebastian Abreu had to score to get to know Ghana. He did and the vision had come to an end.
