It was the third test in Australia’s Indian tour in 2017 and in the first innings, Australia posted a mammoth total of 451. Steven Smith scored a twinkling 178 laced with Glen Maxwell’s blistering century.

India started their innings on a very positive note, as KL Rahul and Vijay fought phenomenally well to kick-start the innings. Once Rahul was out Pujara walked in the center and began and begins his magical inning.

It felt like never intended to get out. Anything the Australians were bowling at him was calmly defended and the poor deliveries were consigned to the frontiers.

With significant contributions from Wriddhiman Saha and Ravindra Jadeja, Pujara built an incredible record of being the first ever Indian batsman to play 500 deliveries in a single innings.

Finally he was dismissed from 525 balls for 202, when Maxwell caught him off a delivery from Lyon.

The match was drawn as Australia without much trouble played out the remaining test.
