Mumbai: Former England batsman Kevin Pietersen says twice-winning World Cup skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni is probably the biggest captain ever. Once asked, Pietersen said it would be hard to argue against the grandeur of Dhoni.
“It will be very difficult just with the weight of expectation to go against MS Dhoni because of what everybody expects from him, how he has to live his life and what he has been through captaining India and then captaining the CSK,” Pietersen, who played 104 Tests, said.
India enjoyed tremendous success under Dhoni, taking home the 2007 T20 World Cup and the 2011 World Cup.
India has also won the 2013 Champions Trophy under the Jharkhand dasher, which hasn’t played any international cricket since last July’s ODI World Cup semi-final loss to India.
Dhoni, who also led the IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings, was also a good captain over there, winning the cash-rich T20 league in 2010 , 2011 and 2018 three times.
The IPL was supposed to be his comeback event but it has been postponed indefinitely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
