Leicester City’s Premier League Title Win: The Biggest Miracle in the Story of Football

The 2nd of May 2016 will have many, many years to remember. This was the day that one of the biggest football shocks, or any sport, finally happened: Leicester City became Champions of the Premier League. Many football fans still rub their eyes in shock that this has happened in world football ‘s biggest league. Leicester City had never previously won a top division title, its best result before this season was second, in 1929! Just seven years ago Leicester competed in League One, English football ‘s lowest league. Last season, Leicester was at the bottom of the table for most of the year and they were saved from relegation by just seven wins in their last nine matches.

At the start of this season, Leicester City was given 5000-1 odds to win the Premier League, there was a better possibility that Elvis Presley could be found alive (2000-1) or that the Loch Ness Monster could be discovered in Scotland (500-1).
