Managers Who Choose Ronaldo Over Messi

Marcello Lippi

Back in 1996, the 72-year-old was the last man to coach Juventus for Champions League glory. Many lend him credit as the coaching genius that made the Bianconeri invincible. And who better to be part of this debate?

During his Juventus days Lippi trained many incredible talents like Alessandro Del Piero, Edgar Davids and Antonio Conte. He also guided Italy into World Cup glory in 2006.

However, Juventus’ acquisition of ‘the best player in the world’ Cristiano Ronaldo in 2018 has been impressive for the five-time Serie A champion.

“Juventus deserve all the credit,” Lippi told Gianluca Di Marzio.

“The team has reached a high level self-esteem to which you could add Cristiano Ronaldo.

“There isn’t anyone else that could increase a team’s yield as much as Cristiano, he’s the best player in the world.”

Carlo Ancelotti

Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed a brilliant two-year stay at Real Madrid under Carletto and captured his second Champions League title. The Ballon d’Or awards came his way back-to – back too.

The former boss of AC Milan is credited with moving Ronaldo out of its comfort zone. He introduced a system that more frequently saw CR7 play as a centre-forward. It has contributed to 48 goals in 2014/15 in just 35 games at La Liga.

Speaking before Ronaldo won the Ballon d’Or in November 2013, Ancelotti paid a final tribute to his star player.

“I’ve seen Ronaldo play a lot of times, of course, but when you’re up close every day his technical skills are unbelievable,” Ancelotti told The Times.

“He’s the best I’ve ever seen. He’s scored in every game in this period — 25 goals in 18 games — and he can score more.”
